Phil leads the commercial and operational delivery of James Engineering’s structural steel and specialist flue projects from contract award through to final account. With over 30 years in the steel and construction sector, he specialises in contract strategy, risk management, programme recovery and client relationship management across complex, high-value packages.
Known for combining technical engineering knowledge with commercial pragmatism, Phil plays a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and profitably - while keeping stakeholders aligned from design through installation.
Specialist in structural steelwork and engineered flue systems, with expertise in NEC contracting, fabrication delivery and multidisciplinary project coordination from cradle to grave.

Fun Fact: Finds genuine satisfaction in fully dimensioned, clash-free fabrication drawings - especially when backed by a coordinated drawing pack and a clean, procurement-ready BOM that doesn’t require detective work.
Outside of work, Phil enjoys family travel, chess (strategic - not speed) and anything involving good food in warmer climates. Favourite projects tend to be the technically awkward ones - the kind that require equal parts engineering logic and commercial creativity to land successfully.
