Peter James

Estimating Manager

Peter has been with the company for nine years, spending eight of those in the estimating department before stepping into his current role as Estimating Manager. As the great-grandson of our founder, he is incredibly proud to be carrying on the family tradition and legacy – he is committed to building on that foundation for many years to come.

Peter leads the estimating function with a clear focus: ensuring every tender we produce is commercially sharp, technically accurate and positioned to win. It’s about setting the standard for how we price, structure and deliver our work, while keeping us competitive in a fast-moving industry.

Alongside his day-to-day role, he is passionate about improving how we use technology across the business. From refining our estimating systems to introducing new digital tools and helping the team maximise the software we already have, he is always looking for smarter, more efficient ways of working. If something can be automated, streamlined or improved, Peter is usually the one driving it forward.

Peter believes strong leadership and a supportive team culture are just as important as the numbers. he wants everyone in the department to feel confident in what they produce and to understand the wider commercial impact of their work. For Peter, great estimating isn’t just about figures — it’s about clarity, accountability and setting every project up for success from the very beginning.

Fun Fact / Quote / Motto

When he’s not at work Peter can be found either behind his desk on a video game or spending time with his family around a good board game. He’s always enjoyed strategy and problem-solving, which probably explains both the gaming and the estimating career path.

Whether it’s planning the most efficient way to build something in a game or negotiating the rules of a competitive family board night, Peter enjoys the challenge just as much as the win.
