Carl joined James Engineering back in 1995 as a time-served fabricator and welder. His dedication and skill quickly saw him progress through the ranks - from Workshop Foreman to Workshop Manager and now to his current role as Operations & Facilities Manager.
Carl’s loyalty to the company is deeply rooted in his long-standing friendship with our MD, Chris James. He often credits Chris for giving him the opportunity to build a wonderful life he’s been able to share with his family.
Looking back, Carl takes pride in being part of #TeamJE’s journey. When he first started, the company had just two sheds. Today, it’s a thriving business with four workshops and over 70 employees - a testament to the hard work, dedication and team spirit he’s been part of for nearly three decades.

Outside of work, Carl enjoys making the most of his downtime. You’ll often find him walking in the countryside, heading to the theatre with his wife, or attending live music concerts with his sons. For Carl, it’s all about spending quality time with family and enjoying life.
He’s also partial to a drink or two and is never short of a good story from his many adventures over the years.
One thing you won’t hear Carl say? “We’ve always done it like this.” He believes if something isn’t working, it’s time to change it. Always open to new ideas and better ways of doing things, Carl champions progress and continuous improvement in everything he does.
